About Obvio AI

Each year, more than 7,500 pedestrians are killed by drivers in the U.S.—a number that has increased by 70% over the past decade. Despite growing awareness, most cities still struggle to curb dangerous driving. “Vision Zero” efforts across the country are falling short.

Obvio AI exists to change that.

We deploy solar-powered, AI-assisted cameras to enforce traffic laws where pedestrians are most vulnerable—automating enforcement in ways that police departments or traditional systems cannot. Our approach has already led to a dramatic reduction in reckless driving and improved safety for pedestrians, drivers, and law enforcement alike.

Founded by the team behind Motive’s AI dashcam, Obvio is backed by Bain Capital Ventures and Khosla Ventures. We recently raised a $22M Series A and are working with some of the most forward-thinking cities in the country. With meaningful revenue, a massive market, and strong policy momentum, we’re building the intelligence layer for safer streets globally.

The Opportunity

We are hiring our first Business Development Representative to help to identify, engage, and qualify new customers through both outbound outreach and inbound leads. This is a highly visible, high-impact role for someone who wants to shape how we identify, engage, and qualify public-sector buyers and strategic partners.

You will work closely with leadership to define messaging, target accounts, outreach strategy, and early sales process. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building systems from scratch.

What You’ll Do

Pipeline Generation & Qualification

  • Research, target, and engage municipal, county, and agency stakeholders via outbound and inbound channels

  • Own first-touch outreach (email, phone, LinkedIn, events) and qualification conversations

  • Schedule and prepare high-quality meetings for Account Executives and senior leadership

  • Qualify leads against agreed-upon buying signals

Foundational Sales Ops & Process

  • Help define Obvio’s early BDR playbook, including messaging, cadences, and qualification criteria

  • Maintain accurate data hygiene

  • Provide structured feedback on what resonates with prospects and where friction exists

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, GTM, and Leadership to refine positioning and go-to-market strategy

  • Support pilot programs, RFP tracking, and early partnership conversations as needed

  • Represent Obvio professionally with public-sector stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves

  • 1–3 years of experience in business development, sales, or a customer-facing role

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfort with outbound prospecting

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed

  • Excited to work in an early-stage, fast-moving environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience selling into government, public sector, or regulated industries

  • Interest in public safety, civic tech, or infrastructure

  • Startup or founding-team experience

Why This Role Is Special

  • Founding role with real influence on how revenue is built

  • Direct exposure to leadership and strategic decision-making

  • Opportunity to work on a mission-driven product with real-world impact

Why Obvio

  • Your work will help save lives and improve road safety

  • Series A of $22M led by Bain Capital

  • Fast-moving startup environment with meaningful ownership

  • Competitive compensation and early-stage equity
