Profound is on a mission to help companies understand and control their AI presence. As our first in-house Commercial Counsel, you’ll be the legal backbone of our sales motion—responsible for reviewing, redlining, and negotiating contracts with a wide variety of customers and partners. You’ll work closely with Sales and Leadership to keep deals moving while protecting Profound’s interests.

What You’ll Do

• Review, redline, and negotiate a high volume of outbound commercial agreements (including MSAs, DPAs, order forms, NDAs, and related documents)

• Serve as the primary legal point of contact for Sales—helping enable deals while managing risk

• Collaborate with external counsel and internal stakeholders (Product, Engineering, etc.) to resolve escalations or complex terms

• Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and fallback positions to improve velocity and consistency

• Monitor evolving data privacy, AI, and IP regulations, and translate them into actionable guidance

Who You Are

• A commercial generalist with 2–5 years of legal experience, ideally with B2B SaaS contracts

• Comfortable owning the redline process end-to-end with minimal oversight

• Pragmatic and business-minded—you understand how to manage legal risk without slowing deals down

• Exceptional communicator who can explain legal issues clearly to non-lawyers

• Licensed to practice law in the U.S.

• Bonus: Experience working in-house at a high-growth startup or with AI/data-centric products

This is an on-site role in our Union Square office — designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and impact.

For this role, the expected base salary range is $150,000 – $250,000. Profound’s total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and will be determined during the interview process.
