About Us
Reframe Systems is on a mission to build net-zero carbon housing for all, at massive scale. To achieve our mission, we need to make net-zero carbon housing more affordable and we are re-imagining how housing is designed and built. Our modular building platform and highly-automated production system will drive down cost, delivery time, and embodied carbon for ADUs and multifamily housing. We are setting up our first software driven factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA), and have a roadmap to scale our presence nationally. We are disrupting assembly line manufacturing for housing production and are backed by leading VC firms in the industrial and construction space.
What We're Looking For
Reframe is building the first of its kind 'CAD to Fab' (fabrication) pipeline that can take high level floor plans all the way through to specific machine and human instructions. We are looking for a software engineering intern with a focus on advanced CAD (specifically Onshape/FeatureScript) programming to help develop and create the DFMA and design automation systems that feed our cutting edge microfactory with detailed machine and technician instructions. Candidates should be eager to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of industry-veteran CAD programmers, roboticists, architects, and engineers to design, prototype, and bring to production a high quality design automation pipeline.
This is a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience at the intersection of CAD, automation, and manufacturing, working alongside experienced CAD programmers, roboticists, architects, and engineers. We’re looking for someone who is curious, eager to learn, and excited to explore new technologies while contributing to meaningful projects.
Responsibilities
Develop a MVP feature from problem statement to delivery. Own design and implementation of CAD automation workflows (eg: Onshape / Featurescript) end-to-end.
Work with the software team to prototype and test features that support our CAD to fabrication pipeline.
Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to solve real-world engineering problems.
Learn about design for manufacturing and automation (DFMA) concepts in an applied setting.
Actively learn from teammates, ask questions, and bring curiosity to new challenges.
Basic Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Some experience with programming (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or CAD scripting such as FeatureScript is a plus).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Curious and motivated to learn new technologies, approaches, and tools.
